Distance Make Every Relationship Stronger

It was in the year 2013, when I met him (the love of my life) first, on a bright sunny day. Even today, I get goosebumps when I see him, and I still can’t believe we are in a relationship. He is the perfect partner for me. We have been together for five years now, and yes, like every couple, he was the one who proposed first. Let me tell you how our beautiful relationship went through struggles and turned into a long-distance one.

It all began in the college library. He was my senior, in the fourth year of LLB, while I was in the third year of the same course. As part of my daily routine, I used to visit the library with my friends to read newspapers. That’s when I noticed he had been following me every day. One day, he proposed to me in front of my friends, and I gently refused. However, as days passed, we became good friends. After six months of friendship, we slowly started falling in love.

Being a shy girl, I hesitated to express my feelings. But one day, he proposed again—this time very gently—and I finally accepted. Life felt beautiful. Love is a feeling that cannot truly be expressed in words. Gradually, we fell deeply in love and spent as much time together as possible. He became the reason behind my smile and happiness.

Then came the difficult phase. He had to leave college, and the thought of separation hurt me deeply. Still, he made sure I never felt alone. He continued visiting college to meet me while searching for a job.

One day, he told me he had an interview and wouldn’t be able to meet me. I felt lonely, but soon after, he shared good news—he was selected for a job in Delhi. I congratulated him with a smile, hiding my sadness. A few days later, he moved to Delhi and started his new job, while I completed my college. I wanted to search for a job in Delhi too, but my parents didn’t allow me to work outside my hometown, Chandigarh.

That’s when our relationship officially became a long-distance one.

Because of his busy schedule, we talked less. Sometimes, when I asked him to stay up and talk at night, he would refuse due to exhaustion. I started feeling lonely and neglected. We barely talked for five minutes a day. I began to feel like I was the only one trying to hold us together. Small misunderstandings turned into frequent arguments.

Our understanding started fading, and that became the root cause of our fights. One day, during an argument, I said some harsh words that I immediately regretted. I wanted to apologize, but I felt a simple “sorry” wouldn’t be enough. So, I decided to surprise him with something special.

I explored various websites for online gift delivery and came across Winni—a platform offering doorstep online cake delivery in Delhi. After browsing through several options, I ordered his favorite red velvet cake along with a bouquet of red roses.

I added a tag that read, “I AM SORRY.”

When he received the surprise, he was delighted. The cake and flowers brought a smile to his face, and he forgave me instantly. The combo truly worked like magic. He called me right away and we talked for over an hour. He appreciated the taste and presentation of the cake and loved the fresh red roses. Most importantly, we cleared all our misunderstandings that day.

The delivery was on time, and the surprise helped us reconnect emotionally.

After that, things slowly changed. He started texting me daily and called whenever he found time. One day, he even surprised me by visiting my hometown. We both began to understand each other’s situations better. And today, our relationship is stronger than ever.

Sometimes, distance doesn’t break a relationship—it teaches you how to value it more.

“Being apart teaches us how to be together.”
